Welcome to Cardross Estate, Scotland, a mixed farming, forestry and sporting country estate dating back to the 16th century. The Estate offers self catering cottages in five properties collectively known as Cardross Holiday Homes providing accommodation situated on the edge of the Scottish Southern Highlands and the recently created Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park.

The self catering accommodation consists of three cottages, a bothy and a farmhouse all converted to provide high quality selfcatering accommodation in beautiful rural locations. Yew Tree Cottage is our only single storey house while Gartur Bothy is at the end of a 2 mile country lane. Arnvicar Farmhouse, which will accommodate 6/8 and Ash & Hawthorn Cottages which both sleep 4 are adjacent and may be booked together for larger parties. Cardross Estate countryside photoGuests of Cardross Holiday Homes are most welcome to enjoy the amenities of the Estate which include a Victorian Pinetum & woodland walk, oak parklands and walking along our own 3 miles stretch of the river Forth where the angler can partake of trout and salmon fishing when in season. For the keen trout angler the well known Lake of Menteith Fishery is close by. The Nick Nairn Cooks School is also situated by the lake.

River Forth photoThe estate borders Flanders Moss, one of the foremost Raised Bogs in Europe and the whole area offers much to anyone interested in the outdoors and nature. The nearby Queen Elizabeth Forest offers excellent walking and cycle trails and the famous Trossachs is an area of outstanding natural beauty as described in Sir Walter Scott’s ‘Lady of the Lake’ and closely associated with Rob Roy MacGregor.

Cardross House photoVillages in the area include Aberfoyle, Buchlyvie, Kippen and Thornhill and the area abounds with interesting place names such as Nether Easter Offerance, Post Office Wood, Port of Menteith, Pendicles of Collymoon, Back of Garden and Faraway. The nearest major centre is Stirling but Perth, Glasgow and Edinburgh are all within easy reach and offer historic sites, museums, art galleries and theatres and both the east and west coasts and the Scottish Highlands are easily visited.
